Resources You Need To Be a Fashion Activist

February 4, 2019

This year I really want work towards finding solutions for the sustainability movement. Last year I spent a lot of time learning about the industry and the brands and more importantly the problems the planet, animals and people face due to the fashion industry. 2019 is now for solutions. I am working to understand how activism, advocacy and policy reform have a space in the fashion industry.

I whole heartedly belive in changing my purchasing habits and mindset. I am constantly having to work on buying what I need, buying to last and buying something second hand. I also love supporting sustainable brands that are bringing innovation to life in this industry. BUT I have come to the conclusion that this simply cannot be enough. I have a platform and my goal is to use it to create as much as possible regardless of my reach.

So, this is why I think advocacy is so important. Change will not happen fast enough without laws, unfortunately. Major companies and fast fashion labels must begin to be held accountable. There are some big issues that need solutions. There has been some reform but certainly not enough. I don’t have all the answers yet but I’m learning. For right now I am spending a lot of time researching. In case you are interested in learning about what change looks like I thought I’d make this post as a resource for anyone else who might be interested. I will continue to add to this list as I learn more but please, if you know of any great fashion advocacy organizations please comment below.

Can’t wait to change to world with you.
